Never Let Traveling Stop Your Skincare Routine Beauty Hacks

It’s entirely too easy for holiday travel to disrupt your skincare routines. You tell yourself that you’ll pick it up again where you left off when you get back home, but why? You want to look your best and feel your best as you travel, right? 

The good news is that you can! Travel doesn’t have to interrupt your skincare routine. With beauty hacks like the ones listed below, you can definitely help make sure that your routine isn’t interrupted by all that holiday travel.

In fact, as prepared as you’ll be with these beauty hacks, you will be looking your best no matter how far from home you go!

Let’s take a look at some of these popular, time-tested beauty hacks to combat the threat of disruption that travel can pose to your skincare routines!

Hack #1: Moisturize Before You Set Out

Flights especially can be so drying to your skin. You can’t count on being able to moisturize properly during the flight, and certainly not during the chaotic bustle of the airport. Before you set out, make sure you go through your full routine.

Moisturize your skin, apply any serums or long-term hydration products, and you can enjoy healthy, hydrated skin throughout your flight. 

While everyone else is bearing the marks of jet lag, you’ll be looking jet fab!

Hack #2: Travel Light, Look Right

A good rule of thumb for travel is to travel light. The less you have to check, the fewer fees and inconveniences you’ll face. This includes your toiletries. As painful as the idea of packing less of those key items might sound, if you can slim down your skin suite, you’ll find that it makes the process so much easier. 

Take what you absolutely need. Try to find products, like a shampoo and conditioner combo, that does the work of more than one product. Bring the long-lasting skincare products that will get you through long trips by car or plane.

Remember, you don’t need the full array here. You just want the necessities that will keep your skin healthy.

Try a variety of lightweight products that often serve multiple duties in your toiletry kit. Favor solids more than liquids as they are easier to transport and don’t threaten to break seal and spill into the rest of your belongings, as well.

Hack #3: Do Your Research

Many of the skincare products you use are available abroad, as well. Check out some stores in your destination area. If you know where to go to pick up a few travel-sized toiletries, you can skip bringing them and just pick them up while you are there.

Grab a few of the necessities to supplement your slimmed-down kit and you’ll spare yourself the packing headache while looking great no matter where your holiday travels take you.

Hack #4: Drink Lots of Water

This beauty hack sounds almost too simple: drink a lot of water. But water is the most basic element of life, and that includes your skin. Many busy modern travelers don’t drink enough water as it is, but nothing can quite hydrate your skin the way as the original moisturizer.

Drinking lots of water hydrates your skin from within and helps you feel better in general. Flying especially can be rather dehydrating.

Making sure you’re properly hydrated with water can help prevent headaches and muscle aches, and has the fringe benefit of fighting hunger pangs so you can stay travel-slim. 

Remember to drink up before your flight, and focus on drinking water during the trip, as well. Avoid alcohol and dehydrating salty foods to keep your skin looking soft and healthy for the entire trip.

Hack #5: Pack Healthy Snacks

Airplane food varies in quality, depending on your arrangements, but besides sometimes being the target of stand-up comedians, it’s also expensive. Many in-flight food options are less than healthy, which can end up irritating your skin or causing some stomach distress.

Traveling by car can also lead to drive-through temptation, which is easy and cheap and often tastes good, but it won’t be doing your skin any favors. 

This beauty hack is really just a life hack: Pack healthier snacks. There are countless recipes for snacks with minimal ingredients that are easy to make, easy to pack, taste delicious and are healthy to boot.

If you don’t have to rely on greasy, fatty foods, your skin will thank you and you’ll feel just as good as you look.
