Water is vital to sustaining life. Some of us regularly drink water as is, while many others never see the clear liquid at all, drinking blends of tea, juices, sodas, etc. From the type of water to how much water should you drink per day, it all matters.

What Types of Water Are There?

Tap- Ever notice that the water that comes from your faucets have a taste? I was always told water is tasteless and full of minerals. In fact, there have been several warnings about using water straight from the tap due to the number of present toxins and trace amounts of heavy metals such as lead.
Not many of us want this in our bodies. Heck, we need to only put the best in our bodies in order to keep ourselves in tip-top health.
Alkaline- Is water that has an elevated pH level with the introduction of alkaline metals. In most instances, many minerals have been lost. However, there are some arguments that lay claim to the benefits of alkaline water. Some of the benefits include immune system support, weight loss, and anti-aging properties. Consuming too much alkaline water regularly could throw off your natural pH level in your body.
Spring/Natural- Spring water or Natural water as it is also referred to as is one of the few types of commercial water that has some natural minerals left in it. While many of like to think our spring water is bottled at the source of a natural spring, but chances of that being a reality is quite slim (Some companies do practice what they preach though).
Purified- Whether water is purified through distillation, reverse osmosis or ionization, purified water is virtually free of all contaminants and minerals, both good and bad. It still provides hydration and is several folds better than tap water, many water drinkers prefer spring water over purified water because they enjoy the presence of natural minerals.
Hydrogen Water (H2)- Hydrogen water is relatively new to the water scene, but has made leaps and bounds in the benefits it provides. Hydrogen water has dissolved hydrogen in it and is considered very healthy. It provides numerous health benefits that range from increased energy to powerful anti-oxidant characteristics. It has even been known to reduce inflammation and recovery time after a workout.
How Much Water is Too Much Water?
While it is rare in occurrence, it is actually possible to consume too much water for the body. Your kidneys are only able to filter and process between 5-7.5 gallons of water a day. That’s roughly 20-30 liters of water.
The tricky part is that your kidneys are only able to process up to 33 ounces of water per hour, which is right at a liter.
What is Hyponatremia?
Hyponatremia occurs when cells in your body have diminished sodium levels, which happens when your body has excess water. This causes your cells to swell. Swelling of cells in the body has different impacts depending on the area of the body where cells are swelling. If there is swelling in the brain or skull, headaches, nausea, and vomiting can occur.
Other symptoms of potential hyponatremia can be heightened blood pressure, confusion, difficulty breathing, drowsiness, muscle weakness, cramping, impairment of identifiable sensory information. Water intoxication is real.
How Much Water Should I Drink Each Day?
According to many professionals and experts, the total amount of daily water consumption should sit between 8-10 glasses (8oz) of water each day. That’s roughly two liters of water each day. So that it is easy to remember, clever scientist, refer to this rule as the 8×8 rule since they recommend eight 8oz glasses daily.
What Water is the Best to Drink?
When it comes to types of water, benefits, and preference, the best water to drink can be a very controversial topic. However, even with data still be collected, there are several fingers starting to point to H2 or hydrogen water.
The number of benefits versus side effects is outweighed.
